Author Erik Raj visits Vineland Public Charter School
From: The Charter Chatter
On Tuesday August 31, 2010 author Erik Raj of the children’s book One Seashell, Two Seashell, Flap, Flap, Flap volunteered his time to read to all the students at VPCS. Mr. Raj from Jackson, NJ received his Bachelors of Science Degree in speech pathology and audiology from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in Pomona, and a Masters of Science degree from Misericordia University in Dallas, PA. One Seashell, Two Seashell, Flap, Flap, Flap is a recipient of the 2010 Preferred Choice Award from Creative Child Magazine. Also, he won the 2010 Young Voices Foundation Seal of Approval, which awards publications based on content with an emphasis on strong family values, suitability for the specified age group, originality, design and production quality. Mr. Raj did three separate readings: one with the kindergarten, one with first and second grade, and one with second and third grade. At each reading the kids were enthralled with each turn of the page. Mr. Raj engaged the kids with both great questions and comments that turned in overwhelming amounts of enthusiastic responses. Chrishauna Mitchell said, “I loved the story and how the fish didn’t give up! It was great.” Overall it was a very fun day and we can’t wait to do it again!
